Business Overview

We now have a valuable record of historical and genealogical information - a heritage source in print. ST JAMES UNITED CHURCH CEMETERY, 2230 Victoria Street, Stroud, Innisfil, by Bill R. Warnica! Close to 2000 names on almost 100 pages; first and oldest known interments from August 30th, 1842 to December 31st, 2010, with names, dates of births & deaths; listing of family members and, in many cases, cause of death. And here just two examples of the latter: -Mrs Mulholland, only 32 years old, awoke in a cold winter's night to tend to her six-week-old baby. When lighting a lantern, her night-dress caught fire. To save house and home, she ran outside and rolled in the freezing snow to put out the fire. There, her husband and mother-in-law found her later, dead from shock and burns - on January 8, 1912 -John Cunningham, came from Ireland to Craigvale, where he had his tailor shop. Somehow, John died from falling out of his 2nd-story bedroom window, breaking his neck. It happened on March 17th, 1898 - on ST.PATRICK'S DAY! The first settlers made markers from whatever materials were available - mostly wood, sometimes hewn stones. Most wooden gravemarkers have biodegraded by now. Bill found a few interred with no monuments, no first names, just an initial and surname, and could not find any further information in his research. But he hopes that some day someone will pick up the book and recognize those few others and thereby help us fill the blanks. This book is available, in limited quantity, for $20.- per copy plus shipping, by emailing Bill at innisfilhistory-bbp@yahoo.ca or by writing to: 22 Hewson Street, Innisfil, Ontario L9 S 2M2 for shipping cost to your area.
